Rain plays spoilsport as UAE beats Nepal by one run (D/L method)

KATHMANDU:  The United Arab Emirates (UAE) defeated Nepal by one run through the Duckworth–Lewis (D/L) method after rain washed a match in the ICC Asia U-19 World Cup Qualifiers held at Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

Nepal had posted 248 runs to win for the UAE losing all wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Chasing the target, the UAE had made 122 runs losing three wickets in 30 over when rain came to play spoilsport. With no further game possible, the UAE won by one run through the Duckworth–Lewis (D/L) method.

Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal made 247 on the board.

Hari Chauhan top-scored with 67 runs including seven fours off 74 balls and remained not out.

Similarly, Bhim Karki scored 53 runs including four fours and two sixes off 54 balls while Rit Gautam contributed 44 runs including three fours off 73 balls.

In reply, Rishabh Mukherjee took four wickets giving away 64 runs in 10 overs, Muhammad Farazuddin grabbed three wickets conceding 52 runs while AW Benjamin, A Sharafu, KP Meiyappan claimed one wicket each.
