UDAYAPUR: Locals of Chanaute have started quitting their village after shortage of drinking water hit their village. Over three doze families have already left their village while the remaining ones have to wait for hours to fill up just a pot of water.

Locals have been facing acute shortage of drinking water after the sources of water dried up due to mega earthquake that devastated Nepal on April 25, 2015.

Tara Devi Magar, a local of Katari Municipality-14, has to reach a nearby water source at the wee hours everyday where other neighbors have already gathered there before her. She has to wait for hours to fill up a pot.

In Chanaute, which is located at the altitude of 1,8oo meters, locals have to buy drinking water during festivals, Gorkhapatra daily reported.
