KATHMANDU: Nepal’s parliamentarians have nit-picked about their ‘low living standard’ at an interaction organized to discuss Nepal-America parliamentary practice in the capital today.

Parliamentarian Maya Gyawali complained that they do not even afford to hire cabs even during emergencies.

She complained that they were compelled to compromise on limited resources, among others. Interestingly, Gyawali said she has not even been to America.

“I did not even get the parliamentary committee that I longed for,” she complained.

Lawmaker Laxmi Pariyar said parliamentarians representing the proportional system to the parliament are often discriminated against. “Directly elected lawmakers are given priority,” she said.

Parliamentarian Man Bahadur Biswokarma lamented that the Prime Minister and ministers fail to fulfill their promises.

Responding to their concerns, former parliamentarian of the United States, Bob Goodlatte said the US parliament has over 700 investigation teams, and that each lawmaker has 18 investigators in his/her team.
