Nepali U-16 national football team leaves for Jordan

KATHMANDU: A 31-member national football team including 23 players left here on Thursday for Jordan to participate in the AFC U-16 Championship Qualifier.

Nepal is in Group A of the Championship to be organized in 2020. Along with Nepal, the hosts Jordan, Kuwait, Tajikistan and Sri Lanka are also in Group A.

Nepal is playing against Jordan on September 14 in the first match of the qualifier. Similarly, it will play against Kuwait in its second match on September 16, against Tajikistan in the third match on September 20 and against Sri Lanka in the last match on September 22.

The team winning the qualifier round will secure their place in the second round. The Nepali team comprises Manoj Dahal, Jenius KC and Pathung Hang Nembang (goalkeepers); and Ajaya Chaudhary, Abhisek Waiba, Jan Limbu, Roshan Thapa, Pragyan Maharjan, Promise Gurung and Aamir Hamid (defenders).

Similarly, Nitesh Shrestha, Crystal Shakya, Janmejaya Dhami, Bipin Tumsing Magar, Mohit Gurungm, Nirajan Malla, Anil Chaulagain and Nirajan Khatri are included in the team as mid-fielders and Shashank Bohora, Sujan Jimi, Krishna Adhikari, Krish Sapkota and Dipesh Rai are also in the team as strikers.
