Omaha police say intruder shot pregnant woman



OMAHA: Police say a pregnant woman was shot by an intruder in her bedroom in northeast Omaha.

The shooting occurred around 1:15 a.m. Sunday. Police say an 11-year-old boy told officers he heard someone enter the residence and saw someone walk into the woman’s bedroom.

He says he tried to intervene but then retreated. The intruder fired once, hitting the woman. Police say she was taken to Nebraska Medical Center for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.

She was identified as 33-year-old Jateira Austin. The boy’s name wasn’t released.

No arrests have been reported.
