Russian police arrest over 200 at Moscow journalist protest



MOSCOW: Russian police on Wednesday said they detained over 200 people, including opposition politician Alexei Navalny, during a protest in Moscow, media reports have said.

The protestors took to streets calling for action against police personnel involved in the alleged framing of a journalist.

Police had on last Thursday detained an investigative journalist Ivan Golunov, 36, popular for exposing corruption among Moscow officials and accused him of dealing drugs, which he flatly denied.

Police, however, dropped drug charges against him. (Agencies)
