Kolkata tensed following BJP protests



KOLKATA: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers on Wednesday launched a protest in West Bengal’s Kolkata to protest against killings of their party cadres.

Huge crowds gathered in the heart of the city near the police headquarters while police erected barricades to stop protestors.

BJP workers brought down some of the barricades. Kolkata Police personnel, deployed in huge numbers, used water cannons and resorted to teargas shelling to disperse the crowd. (Agencies)
