Rouhani says Iran is facing ‘unprecedented’ pressure from sanctions

TEHRAN: Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has said his country is facing “unprecedented” pressure from international sanctions, media reports have said.

He said that the renewed US sanctions on Iran had led to worse economic conditions, and called for political unity to face the sanctions.

Rouhani’s comments have come amid increasing tensions with the US. He said that the international sanctions were even more than during the country’s 1980-88 war with Iraq.

According to him, during war with Iraq, they did not have problems with their banks, oil sales or imports and exports. (Agencies)
