96 foreigners living illegally deported

KATHMANDU: The Nepal government has deported as many as 96 foreign nationals who had been residing in Nepal illegally, said Rajdhani daily.

According to Department of Immigration, 96 foreign nationals were repatriated to their respective countries in the  last eight months in the current fiscal year.

Most of those arrested for their involvement in criminal activities were living in the country illegally as their visa had expired.

Most of them had been arrested on the charge of smuggling gold and drug-trafficking, said the department.

Chinese nationals top the list among those held, according to the department.
