Some 3,000 goats to be sent to Kathmandu from Banke for Dashain



BANKE: Around 3,000 goats from Banke district are said to be sent to Kathmandu for Dashain festival this year, according to the District Cooperative Association.

The goats reared by women farmers will be sent to the capital for Dashain, Ganga Shah, President of District Cooperative Association informed.

Last year a total of 1,500 goats were taken to Kathmandu for Dashain. The number will be doubled this year, Shah said.

According to Shah, the Social Entrepreneurs District Cooperative Association is preparing to send the goats, reared by the women of Mahadevpuri, Kachanapur, Baijapur, Binauna, Phattepur, Kusum and other villages in Rapti Sonari rural municipality to Kathmandu.

Shah said the production of goats has increased in the district in recent times as an increased number of have adopted goat rearing on a commercial basis.
