KARNALI: The Karnali State government is initiated plans to develop 50 villages of the state as model villages within the next three years.

Executive Director of Model Society, Surkhet, Lal Bahadur Gharti Magar informed that villages of Dailekh, Surkhet, and Jajarkot districts of Karnali will be developed as model villages.

Chaukune rural municipality, Simta rural municipality, Panchapuri municipality, Chingad rural municipality, and Gurvakot municipality of Surkhet; Chhedagad municipality, Bheri municipality, Junichande rural municipality, and Kuse rural municipality of Jajarkot; and Gurans rural municipality and Thatikandh rural municipality of Dailekh would be developed as model villages.

Magar informed that fourteen management committees have been formed so far in three districts for the purpose.

The responsibility has been entrusted to the concerned local levels to select the villages.

The villages would be selected have to fulfill a minimum of 102 assistant indexes making nine main indexes as the basis every year.

The nine indexes include health, education, drinking water and sanitation, nutrition, livelihood, tourism promotion, environment protection, empowerment and rights.
