Heavy rain unlikely for next three days, says met office

KATHMANDU: Monsoon at home will remain weak for the next few days as the monsoon trough is presently based on south from the average location.

The monsoon trough is located in India’s Madhya Pradesh and there is no situation for the monsoon to become active in Nepal for the next three days, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said.

However, it does not mean that rainfall is absent in this period. Chance of an isolated rain could not be avoided, said meteorologist Manju Basi.

An area covering Northern Rajasthan, Haryana, New Delhi, southern Uttar Pradesh, southern Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal to the head of the Bay of Bengal is considered as the average location for the monsoon trough.

Tonight, there will be partly to generally cloudy throughout the country with chances of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at some places in the country. Heavy rainfall has been predicted at one or two places of the central and eastern hilly region.
