IGP briefs parliamentary committee about Bhojpur incident

KATHMANDU: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sarbendra Khanal today apprised the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR) about the firing incident that took place in Bhojpur today.

In today’s meeting, IGP Khanal said that the ‘Biplav’-led faction fired at the police squad mobilized for security all of a sudden leaving a police personnel Sanjib Rai injured. According to Khanal, he suffered a chest injury.

Likewise, the faction’s Okhaldhunga district in-charge Nir Kumar Rai has been injured in the crossfire. IGP Khanal said both of them were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. However, they were pronounced dead.

Policeman Thamanath Bhattarai has been injured in the firing by the Biplav-led factions’ side. He has sustained injury to his shoulder.

Meanwhile, police have confiscated a Chinese pistol, magazine, and six rounds of ammunition from the area.
