KATHMANDU: The government is set to control the cooperatives after they were found providing interest against the existing rules.

The cabinet last week endorsed cooperatives regulations-2019 to curb the current interest rate cooperatives are providing.

Nepal Rastra Bank has been introducing provision of ‘base interest’ for banks and financial institutes for the last few years.
