Blackbuck population up at Shuklaphanta National Park



KANCHANPUR: The number of protected blackbuck (Antelope cervicapra), locally known as Krishnasar, has increased at the Shuklaphanta National Park.

During this year’s counting, the number of blackbucks reached 82. In the previous record, there were 62 blackbucks were found at the national park.

As herbivores, the animals inhibit grassy lands and feed upon grains, fruits, flowers, herbs, shrubs, pods as well as grasses. This mammal is protected under the National Park and Wildlife Protection Act- 1973.
