Two powerful bombs go off in Jhapa

JHAPA: An unidentified group has detonated a bomb in Gauradaha Municipality of the district.

The vehicle being used by Chief Administrative Officer Sagar Mishra was badly damaged in the explosion, said DSP Mahendra Kumar Shrestha of District Police Office Jhapa.

According to DSP Shrestha, Bolero jeep, Ba 2 Jha 2570, used by Mishra, sustained damages in the explosion that went off at 12:30 am today.

A bomb disposal team from Naya Shreenath Battalion, Charali of the Nepal Army has been called to the incident site fearing that some suspicious objects might be planted inside the office building.

Likewise, another bomb was detonated in the newly constructed building of Sahara Nepal Saving and Credit Cooperative Society Limited in Birtamod Municipality-2 on Sunday night.  The main gate of the cooperatives, guard room, window panes of the building were damaged due to explosion, said DSP Mohan Thapa of Area Police Office, Anarmani.

Meanwhile, police have arrested two people on suspicion of the explosion. However, nobody has claimed the responsibility for the bombing so far.

Earlier, a bomb had been detonated in the joint office of Birtamod Municipality.
