Govt will not withdraw media council bill, says Minister Baskota

BANKE: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Baskota today said that the government will not withdraw the Media Council Bill tabled at the Parliament.

Speaking at a press conference in Nepalgunj today, he said the government was open for discussion on the bill, but reiterated that the bill would not be withdrawn at any cost.

The minister claimed that the bill is in favor of working journalists and that the government would not punish those providing the right information.

According to him, the bill would regulate the wrong doers.
