KATHMANDU: The government has hiked visa fees for foreigners visiting Nepal.
Annexes 9 and 12 of Immigration Rules, 2051 were amended as per Section 46 of the Rules to increase the existing visa fees, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Baskota said at a regular press briefing on Thursday.
Now, a tourist has to pay USD 30 for a 15-day multiple entry visa. Earlier, USD 25 was charged. Tourists visiting Nepal will now have to pay USD 50 for 30-day and USD 125 for a 90-day visa.
With the amendment, USD 3 per day will be charged following the expiry of the visa. Likewise, USD 30 will be charged while issuing a non-tourist visa for 30 days.
Likewise, a trekker trekking Upper Mustang and Upper Dolpa will now have to pay USD 500 for the first 10 days and USD 50 per day for additional days.
The government has also decided to waive visa fees to tourists from SAARC countries for 30 days.
