Lightning strike claims 1, injures 16



ACHHAM: A person died while 16 others sustained injuries in a lightning strike that occurred in the district.

The deceased has been identified as 14-year-old Janak Rawal of Panchadev Binayak Municipality-7, Achham, confirmed DSP Janak Bahadur Shahi of District Police Office, Accham.

The lightning struck him while he was staying at in his house on Monday night. According to Shahi, the preparations are underway to take his body to the district hospital for postmortem.

Similarly, 33-year-old Darmendra Rawal, Govinda Rawal, 27, Dharma Rawal, 45, Ramesh Rawal, 12, Retuka Rawal, 22, Biplav Rawal, 1, Ujja Rawal, 57, Srijana Rawal, 19, Dhirja Rawal, 23, Radhu Rokka Magar, 20, among others were injured in the incident, said Far-West Provincial Police Office, Dipayal.

The injured are receiving treatment at the district hospital.
