Curfew clamped in Kohalpur

KOHALPUR: The Banke District Administration has clamped a curfew in Kohalpur after a tensed situation that erupted after a school-going girl was killed in a road accident on Sunday morning failed to subside.

According to Assistant Chief District Officer (CDO) Krishna Kanta Upadhyaya, the district security committee meeting on Sunday afternoon decided to issue prohibitory orders from 3 pm.

A 12-year-old girl Prakriti Chand of Kohalpur-11 was injured when a truck — Na 2 Kha 9459 — hit a scooter Bhe 6 Pa 2740 on Sunday morning.

Prakriti has been flown to Kathmandu on a Nepal Army (NA) helicopter for treatment.

She was riding pillion on the scooter when the truck hit the scooter.

Earlier, police opened 15 rounds of bullets in the air and lobbed teargas canisters to contain the situation but in vain.

Scores of protesters and police personnel including DSP Hem Bahadur Shahi have been injured in the clash.
