Bangladesh thrashes Nepal by six wickets in U-19 Asia Cup



KATHMANDU: Bangladesh thrashed Nepal by six wickets in its second match of the ongoing ACC U-19 Asia Cup at P Sara Oval in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Sunday.

Chasing down the target of 262 runs set by Nepal, Bangladesh went past the target in 49.2 overs losing four wickets.

For Bangladesh, Akbar Ali top-scored at 98 runs as Towhid Hridoy and Shamin Hossain made 60 and 42 runs respectively.

Nepal’s Kamal Singh Airee took two wickets. Similarly, Rashid Khan and Hari Chauhan grabbed one wicket each.

Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal notched up 262 runs on the board losing eight wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.

Pawan Sarraf top-scored at 81 runs off 109 balls smashing eight fours and a six as Sandeep Jhora made 56 runs. Likewise, Rit Gautam and Kushal Malla contributed 32 and 28 runs respectively.

Nepal is drawn in Group ‘B’ with home team Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and United Arab Emirates in the Asia Cup which involves eight teams.
