KABUL: Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday urged the Taliban to end violence and talk directly to his government, international media reports have said.

President Ghani’s call comes soon after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the cancelation of a planned meeting with the Taliban.

Afghan authorities said real peace will come only when Taliban agree to a ceasefire.

Trump on Saturday unexpectedly announced that he had canceled peace talks with the Taliban. (Agencies)
