Don’t spare tax-dodgers, lawmakers urge government

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers at the House of Representatives (HoR) have urged the government not to spare any tax dodgers.

Speaking during today’s session of the HoR, lawmaker Hridayesh Tripathi urged the government to impose a tax on NCell, not on common citizen.

He said that the government should not spare tax-dodging people or entrepreneurs while urging the government to refrain from giving unnecessary trouble to the common citizens in the name of tax.

Speaking during today’s special hour of the HoR, Tripathi said that people have been worried over the high tax rate.

“Rather than giving hard time to the people, the government should bring those dodging tax to tax net,” he said.

On the occasion, he also raised concern over the recent decision of the Supreme Court on the case relating to NCell capital gain tax.

Similarly, another lawmaker Binod Chaudhary said that tax should be linked to the country’s development and production.

Lawmaker Bhimsen Das Pradhan, meanwhile, expressed concern over the government’s decision to sing the national anthem before daily prayers at Pashupati Temple premises.

Likewise, several lawmakers demanded strict action against those involved in attacking Muskan Khatun, a girl in Birgunj, with acid.
