Dahal terms Tikapur incident ‘political’

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has termed the Tikapur incident a ‘political revolt’, in which seven police personnel and a child were allegedly killed by protestors four years ago.

He said this while speaking with members of the Tharuhat Joint Struggle Committee at his residence in Khumaltar today.

NCP Chairman Dahal said since the incident was a political one, those who have been indicted in the violence should not be charged.

The Kailali District Court had in March this year sentenced a total of 12 persons, including House of Representatives member Resham Chaudhary, to jail for life for their involvement in the incident.

However, the court had three among them.
