India’s PM Modi to address the nation today

NEW DELHI: India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing the nation this afternoon in the wake of New Delhi’s decisions on abrogating the provisions of Article 370 for Jammu and Kashmir as well as the bifurcation the state into two union territories.

Jammu has remained largely peaceful amid restrictions, while Kashmir has been under lockdown, Indian media reports have said.

Officials said more than 500 leaders and political workers have been detained in Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan, meanwhile, has expelled Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria as soon as it ‘downgraded’ Islamabad’s diplomatic ties with India (Agencies)
