Cholera cases found in capital



KATHMANDU: Cases of cholera have been found in the capital. Bacteria of cholera was found when a stool sample of a patient was tested, according to Dr Bibek Kumar Lal, Director at Epidemiology and Disease Control Division.

The patient-45, of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-13, was hospitalized at Teku Hospital after he complained of diarrhea and vomiting.

The bacteria of cholera was detected when the sample of his stool tested positive at the laboratory of the hospital. Cholera is caused by contaminated water and a bacterium called vibrio cholerae found in food.
