Four arrested with 529,000 Indian rupees in Nepal

SIRAHA: Police have arrested four persons with 529,000 Indian rupees and Rs 49,000 while taking the money to Tandi from Lahan.

The arrested are Umesh Kumar Mahara, 32, of Siraha, Jiwachh Kumar Sha of Lahan-19, Shreedev Mahato, 40, of Lahan-20 and Sharwan Kumar Chaudhary of Sunsari.

They were arrested from Bagwanur Rural Municipality-1, according to police.

Police recovered the amount while checking the car with Indian registration number, WB 06 AF 7232, they were traveling in. The sum was found without any known source of income.

Sharwan Kumar Chaudhary is the car driver, police stated.

All of them have been handed over to Revenue Investigation Office, Itahari for further action, according to District Police Office, Sunsari.

Carrying such a huge amount of Indian currency notes is illegal in Nepal.
