13 hospitals face music for polluting environment

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Forests and Environment has recommended action against 13 hospitals for polluting the environment.

Those hospitals facing action range from government hospitals to private hospitals. The Depart of Environment has taken action against Shukraraaj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Nepal Eye Hospital, Thapatahli Maternity Hospital, Norvic International Hospital, Medical College (Sinamangal).

Similarly, those featuring in the list of actions include Ganeshman Singh Memorial  Hospital and Research Center, KIST Medical College, Naradevi Ayurdevic Hospital, Nobel Hospital, Kathmandu Valley Hospital, and Alka Hospital, Chitwan Medical College and Everest Hospital (New Banesh).

The Department of Environment has slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 on Naradevi Ayurvedic Hospital on the charge of polluting environment and Rs 40,000 each on Teku Hospital, Thapathali Maternity Hospital, and Nepal Eye Hospital.

Similarly,  KIST Medical College, Nobel Hospital, Kathmandu Valley Hospital, Alka Hospital, Chitwan Medical College, Everest Hospital and Norvic International Hospital have been fined Rs 90,000 each for polluting environment.
