KATHMANDU: Police today arrested a man traveling to Kathmandu from Qatar with a total of 400 grams gold ornaments wrapped in a diaper from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

The person has been identified as Lila Bahadur Basnet, a migrant worker, who was returning home by Himalayan Airlines from Qatar after three years.

The police acted on a tip off. Likewise, police also arrested two persons — Rupesh Giri and Tek Bahadur Thapa — who were at the airport to receive the gold. Basnet said that he brought the gold as a parcel handed by a person in Qatar, according to police.
