KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC), the main opposition party in the parliament, has accused the government for surrendering before India.

Speaking at the House of Representatives (HoR) today, NC chief whip, Bal Krishna Khand alleged the government for being submissive before India by backtracking its previous decision to test the amount of pesticide residues on fruits and vegetables that have been imported from India.

Khand came down heavily on the government by saying that it has turned submissive by playing upon people’s health.

Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Chakra Pani Khanal, however, contradicted the clarification of the Prime Minister KP Oli that the government had to withdraw its decision owing to lack of infrastructures.

Khanal responded to lawmakers’ queries at the National Assembly (NA) saying that the Ministry has established quarantine offices in six provinces, escept Karnali Province, and has already deployed staff to conduct the tests.
