KATHMANDU: Lawmakers of the National Assembly today criticized the government for revoking the decision of making a chemical test of vegetables imported from India.
A cabinet meeting on July 4 repealed its decision previous decision to make chemical tests of vegetables and fruits coming from India. The government has cited a lack of technical preparations for its decision to allow vegetables to enter Nepal with chemical tests.
Lawmaker Anita Devkota questioned the government to furnish an explanation for revoking the decision during today’s National Assembly meeting. She asked the government to ban import and sales of vegetables with a high concentration of pesticides. She also urged the government to take into account the health of the citizens.
Likewise, other lawmakers also criticized the government for allowing fruits and vegetables to enter Nepal without thorough chemical tests.
