KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday ordered the release of anti-graft campaigner Gyanendra Bahadur Shahi.

Hearing a habeas corpus petition claiming his detention to be illegal, a joint bench of Justices Dr. Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Hari Prasad Phuyal ordered his release.

Mahesh Dangol had moved the apex court demanding the release of Shahi who is currently on detention at District Police Office, Surkhet.
