Family of road mishap victim to get Rs 2.8 mln



KATHMANDU: If a person injured in a vehicular accident dies, his or her family will receive up to Rs 2.8 million as compensation from insurance companies.

Insurance companies are increasing the insured amount from Rs 800,000 to 2.8 million at the request of the Department of Transport Management.

The Department has also requested the companies to bring insurance scheme for head  and backbone injuries.

The government is preparing to increase the amount as part of protection of the vehicular entrepreneurs after scrapping transport committees.
