Nepal crashes out of SAG women’s cricket



KATHMANDU: Nepal crashed out of the women’s cricket under the South Asian Games (SAG) after facing a defeat in the hands of Sri Lanka U-23 on Friday.

At the match played in Pokhara, Sri Lanka defeated Nepal by 41 runs securing its place for the final. Bangladesh has already entered the final of the tournament.

Chasing down the 119-run target set by Sri Lanka, the hosts managed to get only 77 runs on the board losing nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Skipper Rubina Chhetri top-scored for Nepal at 19 runs.

Earlier, opting to bat first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka posted 118 runs on the board losing seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Nepal will play against the Maldives tomorrow for the bronze medal. Bangladesh & Sri Lanka to play for gold on Sunday.
