Court resumes recording of Alam’s statements

KATHMANDU: The recording of Nepali Congress (NC) leader and suspended lawmaker Mohammad Aftab Alam’s statements has resumed on the second consecutive day at District Court, Rautahat.

A single bench of Rautahat District Court’s Judge Deepak Dhakal is conducting the recording of Alam’s statements, Gunaraj Parajuli, record keeper at the court, told Khabarhub.

Alam had been sent to police custody on Tuesday after the court could not finish the recording of his statement.

The Office of the District Attorney, Rautahat on Monday filed a case against 10 individuals including Alam on murder and explosion charges demanding their life in prison.

A Nepali Congress lawmaker Alam on October 13, 2019, was arrested in connection with an explosion and the subsequent murder of at least 23 persons in Rautahat 12 years ago.

Alam was elected to the federal parliament from Rautahat constituency-2 in the 2017 elections.
