KAVREPALANCHOWK: Bethanchowk Rural Municipality-3, Kavrepalanchowk, ward chair Dil Bahadur Shrestha was locked up inside his office for two hours on the accusation of promoting nepotism during the formation of a local consumers’ committee.

The locals have accused the ward chair of secretly appointing the people within his kinship and close to him on the committee formed for the road upgrading project at the locality.

Locals reached his office on Friday to grill him about the matter and decided to keep him in confinement for two hours as a protest of his move, said local Bhawanath Timilsina.

“The appointment was made through a wrong process bypassing the discussions with locals and when we realized this, we challenged him to prove its authenticity, but he failed, compelling us to take the move as a protest and warning,” he added.

The locals came to know about the committee formation only two days ago. Later, the local police rescued the ward chair after two hours.
