India pledges Rs 16.8 bln in grant for Nepal



KATHMANDU: Indian government has pledged Rs 16.8 billion in grant  assistance to Nepal.

Presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2019/20 in the parliament on Friday, Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced to have increased the grant assistance for Nepal by 50 percent.

The previous government had pledged IRs 7 million  to the Nepal government.

Bhutan is receiving the highest IRs 28 billion, followed by Mauritius with IRs 11 billion. Nepal ranks third in receiving the grant.

This grant assistance for foreign countries has been allocated through the Ministry of External Affairs.
