DMAULI: Keeping in mind the safety of foreign tourists visiting Bandipur, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation is devising permanent police in the touristic city of Tanahun.
Earlier, the District Police Office, Tanahun had temporarily deputed three tourist police at Bandipur since May 31.
Police Inspector Amrit Bahaudr Basnet, also the chief of Tourist Police Kathmandu, informed the ministry itself is mobilizing tourist police by creating permanent posts.
A police squad comprising eight security personnel under the leadership of Sub Inspector is to be mobilized for enabling safe and convenient environment for tourists when Bandipur of late has seen increasing inflow of foreigners.
The tourist police are assigned to carry out patrol in tourism sites, flow necessary information to tourists, coordinate for smooth communication, listen to and bring into actions the grievances of tourists, arrange necessary security and do monitoring and evaluation of hotel, travel, trekking and rafting agency, among others.
Siddi Bikram Shah, Superintendent of Police (SP) of District Police Office, Tanahun, called for support from local government, people and entrepreneurs to the local police and tourist police in their efforts to maintain security situation in Bandipur.
