Maldives all out at 6 runs, Bangladesh victorious by 249 runs



KATHMANDU: Bangladesh women’s team defeated the Maldives by 249 runs in the ongoing South Asian Games played in Pokhara on Thursday.

Chasing down the 255 runs target set by Bangladesh, the Maldives managed to get only 6 runs on the board losing all wickets in 12.1 overs.

Shamma Ali scored two runs for the Maldives. Kinaanath Ismail and Sajaa Fathimath contributed one run each. No other Maldivian players managed to score a single run.

Ritu Moni and Salma Khatun grabbed two wickets each for Bangladesh.

Earlier electing to bat first after winning the toss, Bangladesh made 248 runs on the board losing two wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Two players—Nigar Sultana and Fargana Hoque— hit a century for Bangladesh contributing 103 and 110 runs respectively.
