13th SAG: Nepal clinches record 141-run win over Bhutan



KATHMANDU: Nepal has beaten Bhutan by 141 runs in the Twenty20 men’s cricket tournament of the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) held in Kirtipur on Thursday.

Bhutan was restricted to 95 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Ranjung Mikyo Dorji scored 27 runs including four sixes off 23 balls,  onam Tobgay bagged 15 runs off 23 balls, Tobden Singye made 11 runs off 20 balls. The other Bhutan’s batsmen could not achieve double-digit runs.

Nepal’s Paras Khadka grabbed two wickets giving away 11 runs, P Sarraf, LN Rajbanshi and Karan KC claimed one wicket each restricting the opponent to mere 95 runs.

Earlier, Nepal set a 237-run target for Bhutan in the Twenty20 men’s cricket tournament of the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) underway in Kirtipur on Thursday.

Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal notched up 236 runs at the cost of 3 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Skipper Gyanendra Malla top-scored with 107 runs becoming the second-century scorer in the history of Nepali cricket. Malla hit nine sixes and five fours off 53 balls.

Similarly, Paras scored a half-century including nine fours and one six off 28 balls. Deependra Airee contributed 45 not-out runs.

In reply, Bhutan’s Karma Dorji grabbed two wickets and Tobden Singye took one wicket of Nepal.
