KATHMANDU: Former lawmaker of the Constituent Assembly (CA) representing then CPN-UML DB Karki has been arrested. Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested Karki on charges of corruption from Satungal on Thursday morning.
Karki was arrested after the Supreme Court endorsed the decision of the Special Court. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a graft case against Karki accusing him of taking Rs 100,000 in bribe from police inspector job aspirants.
Hearing the case, the Special Court, Kathmandu sentenced Karki to six months in prison along with a fine of Rs 100,000.
Karki, then filed an appeal at the Supreme Court against the decision of the Special Court. Karki landed in the police net after the Supreme Court endorsed the Special Court’s decision. Arrested Karki will be produced in the court, said police.
