JALESHWOR: Two people died and 16 others sustained critical injuries in an accident involving a pickup van at Bardibas municipality-5, Mahottari.
The deceased have been identified as Sakuntaladevi Saha, 80, of Dhanusha and Bartaniyadevi Sah, 65, of Sitahi of Bihar, India, the District Police Office Mahottari confirmed.
The van (Na 2 Cha 8855) carrying pilgrims met with the accident near Gadhata Bridge at around 4:00 am as the driver lost control of it all of a sudden.
Four including Kabita Kumari Mahato, 27, of Dhanisha who were severely injured have been sent to the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan while remaining 12 are undergoing treatment at the Bardibas-based Shuvaswastik Hospital.
