12 staffers including 3 doctors infected with dengue virus

KATHMANDU: Twelve staffers including three doctors  of Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Control, Teku have been infected with dengue virus.

Staffers and medical doctors got infected in course of treating the patients infected with dengue virus, said hospital sources.

According to doctors, the dengue virus does not transfer from people to people. It is likely likely that the staffers and doctors contracted virus after being bitten by those mosquitoes that first bit the dengue patients undergoing treatment at the hospital, said infectious disease specialist Sher Bahadur Pun.

Dr Basudev Pandey, director of the hospital, informed that the staffers and doctors infected with dengue virus are undergoing treatment at the hospital itself.

As many as 521 dengue infected patients underwent treatment on Tuesday itself, Pandey told Khabarhub.
