State 2 mulls over strategy to minimize cases of rape

BIRGUNJ: The government of State 2 has intensified preparations to draft a security strategy with an aim to minimize crimes including rape.

The State government is set to bring a strategy after serious crimes such as rape increased by 60 percent in recent times.

Cases of rape, which has been mentioned as a heinous crime in the Criminal Code, has increased in the province.

According to the State 2 Police Office, Janakpur, the State-2 recorded 299 cases of rape in the last fiscal year. However, the number was 170 a year before.

Minister for Economic Affairs and Law in the State, Gyanendra Kumar Yadav said that the issue has been worrying and challenging since instances of such heinous crimes such as rape are growing in State 2.

Minister Yadav informed that the State government was currently planning a strategy to minimize any heinous crimes.
