Bailey bridge over Bhabsi River along East-West Highway

MAHOTTARI: A bailey bridge has been installed over the Bhabsi River along the East-West Highway in Mahottari. As a result, transportation has become regular since last night.

The bridge has been washed away by flash floods triggered by incessant rainfall on July 13. A diversion was being used to cross the river or a 30 km turn had to be taken through the jungle.

The 48.8 bailey bridge was installed to resume traffic since last night, said chief of the Road Division Office, Janakpur Binod Kumar Mauwar.

The bridge has a load-bearing capacity of 98 tons but for now, only one vehicle at a time with a maximum loan of 35 tons is being allowed to ply through it.
