Minister Magar demands appropriate resettlement to Shukla Phanta-displaced families



KATHMANDU: Minister for Water Supply Bina Magar has demanded appropriate resettlement to 1,500 families in Beldangi Rural Municipality and Belauri Municipality displayed by Shukla Phanta National Park in Kanchanpur district.

A team led by Minister Magar drew the attention of Minister for Forest and Environment Shakti Basnet on proper management of the families rendered homeless by the national park.

Mayor of Belauri Municipality Potilal Chaudhary and Chairman of Beldangi Rural Municipality Dhan Bahadur Thapa among others were in the team led by Minister Magar.

On the occasion, Forest Minister Basnet vowed that homes will be managed for the locals displaced by the national park, adding that the government was serious to address their plights.

Chairman of Beldangi Rural Municipality Thapa said that the demands of the locals have not been addressed since long. He informed that different commissions were formed to address their plights but the problems are yet to be solved.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway to inaugurate a new entrance gate to Shukla Phanta National Park jointly by Minister Magar and Minister Basnet.
