‘My village, My place’ receives 120 videos



KATHMANDU: We Will Rise Foundation (WWRF)’s video contest under the theme of “My Village, My Place (Mero Gau, Mero Thau)” has received 120 videos applications from the seven states. WWRF has organized the video  to promote the village on the aspects of tourism.
The team of the Foundations is now busy on shortlisting 20 villages to open the doors to public from the social media platforms.

The organization has set the criteria to film the videos. The video must be of HD quality and can be shot using either smartphone or camera. The maximum duration of the video must be five minutes. There is no age, sex or other types of restrictions to participate in the competition. The place featured in the video must be a relatively neglected place with little public attention from inside Nepal and it must have great tourism potential.

The jury for the competition will include documentary film director Chhiring Ritar Sherpa, writer and documentary maker Mohan Mainali, Nepal Tourism Board CEO Dipak R. Joshi, senior sound expert Pradip Upadhyaya and film director Samjhana Upreti Rauniyar.

The video that receives the most amount of like, shares and comments will get the ‘Mero Gaun Mero Thau People’s Choice Award’. On the other hand, the jury will determine the overall winner of the video challenge.

The overall winner of the video challenge and the recipient of the ‘People’s Choice Award’ will get NRs 100,000 in cash prize. The first runner up will get NRs 50,000 and the second runner up will get NRs 25,000. Moreover, the videos with the best editing and best script will also receive NRs 25,000 each.

Similarly, the winner of People’s Choice Award and the winner of overall video will also get the scholarship from Nepal Film Academy worth Rs 200000.

The best videos will be awarded on July 1 amid a special program, Nirmal Shrestha, founder Director of the Foundation told Khabarhub.

The foundation has organized the event in collaboration with Nepal Tourism Board.
