Price of daily commodities skyrockets after budget

KATHMANDU: The price of daily commodities has skyrocketed after the government issued the budget for the fiscal year 2019/20.

Some entrepreneurs have hiked the price of some goods saying the government increased vat on the imports of institutional vehicles.

Following the budget, the price of rice, pulse, sugar, cooking oil, vegetables and fruits has gone up.

The businessmen have increased the price of daily commodities after the budget levied high taxation on imports of vehicles and increased the salary of the government employees, said Madhav Timalsena, president of Nepal Consumers Rights Investigation Forum.
