Nepal Army calling global tender to procure Mi-17 choppers

KATMANDU: Nepal Army (NA) is calling for a global tender to procure two Mil Mi-17 helicopters. The government had given a go-ahead to the national army to purchase two choppers from Russia on a government to government deal.

NA will be calling for the tender after it was not possible to buy the choppers from Russia due to economic sanctions imposed by the United States of America, media reports said on Tuesday.

The report quoting the high-ranking officials at the national army and the Ministry of Defense stated that helicopters can be procured in a transparent manner if the global tender is called.
