Office of chief returning officer set up for by-election



KATHMANDU: Offices for the chief returning officers have been set up in Kaski, Bhaktapur, Baglung and Dang districts for the upcoming by-election scheduled for November 30.

The by-elections are being held for the vacant posts of a member of the House of Representatives (HoR), State Assembly, a mayor of sub-metropolis, three rural municipalities’ chairpersons, one rural municipality’s vice-chairperson and 43 wards chairpersons, the Election Commission (EC) said.

The filing of candidacy for the HoR and State Assembly members has been scheduled for November 7.

Likewise, the nomination of the local level members has been slated on November 13.

The EC has allocated a total of 16 days for the publicity of the member of HoR and the State Assembly, while those contesting the local polls have been given 10 days.

A total of 537 voting centers will be set up in which 454,114 voters will cast votes.
